Capturing the detail, proportions and craftsmanship of a single-dwelling residence, Tate is a collection of eight townhomes in Kew’s prestigious Sackville Ward. Tailored for families and empty-nesters, this project integrates bespoke, high-end design features that are rarely found in townhomes. Poliform robes from Italy, private lifts and three-metre ceilings in all living areas work harmoniously to elevate the living experience at Tate. The most striking aspect of the design is the facade’s delicate, angular brickwork, extending throughout the entire building structure and tirelessly navigating chamfers and soffits. The building’s signature handmade bricks were sourced from Piera Ecocerámica in Barcelona following an extensive and painstaking search process. It was crucial the texture, size and colour variation be just right: visually refined and yet rich in character. In total there were more than 60,000 bricks ordered and a custom colour mix created.
